KEY TASKS Week 5 (beginning 20th April)
Science and Writing
This week we would like you to look at life cycles as part of our Science Curriculum. A life cycle is the different stages of life for a living thing. In science it is usually displayed as a circular diagram showing each stage in words and/or pictures. All living things have life cycles; animals produce offspring and plants produce seeds which germinate into new plants.
This is a fun video to explain a bit more about life cycles and give you some examples:

The life cycle of the frog is shown in this fun video:

Here are some more examples of life cycles of different animals and plants:
The Very Hungry Caterpillar- read by Mrs Clark

Your challenge this week is to create your own life cycle of an animal. You could present this in many different ways:
- You could draw a picture (see simple example template below)
- You could make a 3D life cycle from junk, clay or natural objects
- You could write about your chosen animal in a non fiction text
- You could even write a life cycle story - the Hungry Caterpillar is the most well known example of this.
Remember we would love to see what you come up with so email us some pictures at Y2@scarcroft.southbank.academy
MATHS
This week we would like you to focus on Fractions. Here is Mrs Holton with an explanation.
Fractions: Quarters

Quarters

Fraction Resources
After we have looked at quarters we would look at some basic equivalent fractions e.g. 2/4 is the same as 1/2. We would also look at thirds of a shape and a number.
