We have used some of our Sports Premium this year on renewing and refreshing our current PE provision. The government guidance on using the funding suggests using it for 'providing staff with professional development, mentoring, training and resources to help them teach PE more effectively to all pupils, and embed physical activity across your school'.
We have been using the Real PE scheme for some time, but some of our current staff did not take part in the initial whole school training and the scheme has been updated. We had a whole school refresher day with Abi Topkiss from Create Development who devised the scheme. The teachers got to see a lesson in action and use their new Jasmine online platform alongside it. This allows the teachers to show video demonstrations of the Real PE skills to the children, gives coaching points for the children to use with each other, allows teachers access to assessment documents and can give pupils ownership of the lesson through their Pupil View feature. The children that took part in the lesson enjoyed their sessions and all of our staff now feel more confident in delivering Real PE sessions.
We have used some of our sports funding this year to buy some Tagtiv8 resources. These are tag rugby belts and tags with numbers and letters on them. We are hoping this will increase our activity across the curriculum. Bryn from Tagtiv8 came in to deliver training to our KS2 pupils and also trained our staff. Our Year 5/6 pupils will then deliver session to our younger pupils soon. We really enjoyed the sessions.
