Welcome to Reception!

The Early Years Curriculum

During Reception Year at Scarcroft Primary School, your child will be working towards the Early Learning Goals.

We will also focus on developing your child's learning skills, these are called the Characteristics of Effective Learning. At the end of Reception Year, you will receive a report commenting on the Characteristics of Effective Learning for your child and whether your child is working toward the Early Learning Goals, has met them or has exceeded them.

Caterpillar Lifecycle

We have really loved watching our caterpillars change from the tiny caterpillars that arrived early June. We have been fascinated by each stage. They first ate all their food and grew into huge caterpillars before spinning their own chrysalis. We waited patiently and then we were excited when they emerged as beautiful butterflies. We enjoyed seeing them fly off into the world.
