Oxford Owl Home Reading

 

Oxford Owl are offering loads of free ebooks to read online while schools are closed.  The book bands go to higher levels than the free Collins books available elsewhere.  The website will read some of them out loud as well.  You will need to sign up and set up a log in, but it is free to do this.

World Book Day online readings

 

Here are some readings from previous World Book Days (there are lots of other book resources on this website too).

Chapter 6 of Harry Potter has been read by an even larger ensemble - the cast of The Cursed Child play.  This is one is done in a really clever way with each cast member taking the role of one of the characters like in a play script.
The most recent chapter is read by an ensemble, including the actresses who play Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegoood.

Marcus Sedgwick has generously recorded all the chapters for his book Floodland, which you can listen to by following the link below.  This book is for older readers.

Watch famous people read Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.  You may need to log in to watch some of them, but it is free. 
Audible are offering free children's audio books while schools are shut.  Read along or just listen!
A librarian from Islington library has posted several readings of books onto YouTube.  These are great because she also lists the ages the books are aimed at.  At the time of posting, there were 14 uploads, many for Early Years and KS1 but also some for KS2.  More are being added regularly.
Hay Festival are offering some fantastic online sessions with authors starting with Cressida Cowell at 8:00 am on Monday 18th May (the author of the How To Train Your Dragon books).

Collins e-books are still free.  Click on Teacher Login and type:

This will then give you access to all of Collins reading scheme to read online which follows the colour bands that you are used to right up to Lime.
