As the children are so used to being active at school, the PE team at Scarcroft are very keen for them to keep active at home during this tricky time. Entries need to be entered on Koboca by 5pm on Friday 26 June
The top 12 pupils will be put into 3 teams of 4 in each year group banding (Y3/4 and Y4/5)
If you only have 7 pupils who enter the top 4 will be put into a team and entered
The teams will then compete in a York Competition with the winners going to through to the Virtual NY Finals
National Cricket Week
This week is National Cricket Week!

All the session plans are available right now on the National Cricket Week Hub and every day at 9AM we'll be publishing a new video featuring a legend of English cricket talking you through the challenge.
The sessions are for everyone, at home or in school, and we would love to see everybody joining in and getting active through cricket.

Intra-school competition
These can be completed either in school or at home and pupils must post their best score using the link provided.
Keeping with the athletics theme this week's intra-school competition will be the Scarcroft Speed Bounce challenge.
How many times can you jump side to side over a rolled up towel in 30 seconds?
To count the jumps must be two footed and landing with two feet on the other side of the towel. Make sure you have somebody counting for you so that your score is accurate.

May is national walking month
Living Streets, is a UK charity aimed at promoting everyday walking. Their website has lots of other walking based resources and activity ideas for primary schools.

Today we are starting a week long activity in Athletics Pentathlon This is our virtual competition to finish of the half term
Below are 5 events for you to practice and then record time/distance for. There is a link to record the scores for each pupil and we will collect them all up at the end of the week. You will have util 3pm on Friday to record the scores before the link closes and the results calculated
50m Sprint
Time a straight run
Standing Long Jump
Two feet jump and landing
50m Hurdle race
Time a run including 5 hurdles of appropriate height
Javelin Throw
Soft javelin throw and measure distance
400m Run
Time a 400m run around an exciting route

At the end of the week we can see who are the best athletes in York!
Please ensure the results are verified by an adult before they are submitted to avoid any errors. 56cm can easily be typed in as 65cm
Joe Wicks - The Body Coach
As mentioned above, Joe Wicks does some great work outs for children which you can find on his youtube channel but he is also going to do a live workout every day at 9.00 during the time that schools are closed. We salute you Joe!
Youth Sport Trust resources
The Youth Sport Trust have compiled some ideas for PE Home Learning on their website (link below) and they will be added to on a frequent basis.
real PE at home - online learning resources
As a Real PE school, Create Development will be offering us free access to their Real Play resources whilst we are closed.
real PE at home includes an online programme which supports families to be active, play and learn together. It includes a programme specifically for children in Early Years and Key Stage One with 12 themes, 6 areas, over 250 activities and challenges and 1000s of hours of fun and activity. This programme is also great for family play and fun.
It also includes a programme for children in Key Stage 2, with daily and weekly guidance provided for both programmes (starting from next week) in addition to an option to choose your own themes and activities.
There are so many benefits to being active, not only to our physical wellbeing but also to our emotional and mental health, especially in such testing times for all of us.
