Mrs McDonald's Class Zoom - 1pm

We would like to invite Mrs McDonald’s class to a class Zoom. Please bring along something to share with your friends in your class from your work last week, this could be your York landmark artwork.

PE

Monday afternoon is time to get active with PE with Joe! Join Joe on: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyCLoPd4VxBuS4UeyHMccVAjpWaNbGomt

E-Safety Topic Lesson

Since we're using the internet now more than ever, here is an important session on e-safety to keep yourself safe when using online devices at home and in school.

We'd like you to complete this lesson and then use your rhyme or slogan to create an e-safety poster for your home-schooling area! Can you tell your family what you have learned?

Tuesday 19th January - Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers

Join Mrs McDonald at 1.00pm on Zoom as she reads the story of Katie Morag and the two Grandmothers before setting you this afternoon’s writing challenge.

Can’t make the Zoom lesson? Don’t worry, we’ll upload a copy of us reading the story here:

Katie Morag and the Two Grandmothers read by Mrs Marshall

Writing challenge: After the Zoom session we’d love you to write your own description of Katie Morag. Use lots of adjectives (describing words) and remember your capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. You can download the sound and tricky word mats that we use in class on: https://www.scarcroft.york.sch.uk/writing-10/ If you prefer, you can download the writing frame below to write your description.

Please upload a photo of your description to Evidence Me.

Wednesday 20th January

Class Zooms

Wednesday is going to become our weekly catch up Zoom session with our own classes. Please bring along some work to share with your friend that you've done over the past week. It could be your description of Katie Morag.

Mrs Marshall's class zoom is at 11:00am

Mrs McDonald's class zoom is at 1:00pm

PE Challenge

Today's challenge is a Lockdown Fartlek. Fartlek is Swedish for "Speed Play".
Whilst you're out for your daily exercise why not take on the challenge to:
  • walk to the first lamppost,
  • jog to the next lamppost,
  • run to the next lamppost
  • sprint to the next lamppost
And repeat on the way round, if you can continue all the way you'll be a super trooper.

Thursday 21st January – Writing/Topic

Join Mrs Marshall at 1.00pm on Zoom and recount the story of Katie Morag and the two Grandmothers together before she sets you this afternoon’s writing challenge.

Writing challenge: After the Zoom session we’d love you to retell the story of Katie Morag and the two Grandmothers. Remember your capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. The story is quite long so we suggest doing this over two afternoons.

Don’t forget, you can download the sound and tricky word mats that we use in class on: https://www.scarcroft.york.sch.uk/writing-10/ You can also download a story map or a little book below with pictures on each page to help you retell the story.

Please upload a photo of your book or story map to Evidence.Me.

Friday 22nd January

PSHCE Zoom - Aiming High

At 1:00pm, join Mrs Marshall as we talk about how having a positive attitude can help you achieve great things!

Art - Make your own Tartan

Lots of you were interested in the pattern on Katie Morag's skirt. This is called Tartan. Find out more here:

Why not have a go at creating your own tartan by weaving a pattern.

You will need a square piece of paper/card and strips of paper in at least two different colours.

Mrs McDonald used an AAB pattern (yellow, yellow, blue). What pattern will you make?
