Autumn 2

As part of our chocolate topic, we learnt about how a piece of chocolate is digested. We pretended to be a piece of food going through an 'obstacle course' digestive system! We had lots of fun and remembered some fantastic facts about the digestive system.

We also learnt about digestion in another practical way which was a little more disgusting! We broke up biscuits to represent our teeth chewing the food. We then mixed them up with water and orange juice (gastric juices) in a plastic bag (stomach). We then passed the mush through a pair of tights (small intestine) and squeezed out the moisture (large intestine). Finally, we cut a hole in the tights and passed a solid stool!

The final stage!
