Extra! Extra!

We believe in adding interest to our children’s daily experiences by bringing in a range of visitors from outside school to enrich our curriculum.

Recent enrichment activities have included:

  • The whole school took part in a Teddy Bear’s picnic on the green
  • York Knights Rugby Club organised some ‘World Cup’ themed assemblies
  • York Library rewarded pupils with medals for taking part in the summer Reading Mission
  • Junior pupils listened to a demonstration about Brass Instruments
  • Pupils celebrated Wold Book day dressed as their favourite book character
  • The Fire Brigade came to show their engine to our youngest pupils
  • Our pupils cast their ballots in elections for the School Council
  • Pupils took part in a ‘Mega-Minute-Maths-Marathon’ to raise funds for a new Maths scheme
  • The juniors took part in the Police Mini-idol competition

Special Events

Our pupils take part in a wide range of events, such as:

  • York Music Festival (our Drummers & our Junk Band)
  • York Viking Festival (our Year 5 pupils performed sagas)
  • York Little Sing (our Year 2 pupils sang with other schools)
  • World Book Day (the whole school dressed as Book Characters)
  • Cycle Training (for Years 5 and 6)
  • Pedestrian Training (for Year 3)
  • York School Council Conference (pupils in our Council)
