Scarcroft Primary School is a Victorian 2-storey building near the centre of York. There are approximately 370 pupils on roll in 14 classes. We are lucky enough to be within walking distance of many of York’s historic features and teachers tap into what is available on our doorstep when planning topics to engage the children.
In Partnership – part of South Bank Academy Trust
Scarcroft Primary School was one of three founder schools that joined together to form the South Bank Multi Academy Trust in April 2016. Since then, two other schools have joined the trust and the member schools are:
- Scarcroft Primary School
- Knavesmire Primary School
- Woodthorpe Primary School
- Millthorpe Secondary School
- York High School
The five schools work closely together and the children benefit in a number of ways: through participation in joint activities and events; through teachers sharing ideas and collaborating; and from school-to-school support where appropriate.

Our school motto is “Inspiring learners for tomorrow’s world…today, through Quality, Creativity and Enjoyment.” We are passionate about what we do and we want to nurture the uniqueness of every child in our care.
"Building on the past….foundations for the future."
We are proud of our Victorian heritage and believe that traditional values do have a place in the modern world. We want all our pupils to be polite, well-mannered and caring members of their local community.
We have a very strong team spirit, among pupils and among staff. We believe that T.E.A.M. stands for “Together Everyone Achieves More.”
